Employer Branding & People Communications
Employer branding explains what it is like to work for an organisation and why that experience matters to current and prospective employees. Narrative Consultants helps connect the employer story with people’s experience and business priorities.
The employer story needs evidence.
An attractive claim is only useful if employees can recognise it in everyday work. We help organisations identify a credible message, the proof behind it and the communication needed for different stages of the employee and candidate journey.
What a collaboration can include.
The scope is agreed around your priorities, audience and brief.
- Employer narrative and employee value proposition messaging
- Messages for candidate and employee audiences
- People stories and content themes grounded in real experience
- Communication alignment with HR and leadership priorities
- Internal communication that supports understanding and involvement
How we work
We start with the business and people context. Working with the relevant teams, we review the employer proposition, existing messages and available employee insight. We then shape a narrative and content approach that reflects demonstrable experience, with clear ownership and appropriate review of employee stories.
How progress is assessed
Measures can include candidate understanding, relevant applications, engagement with careers content and employee feedback on whether the narrative feels accurate. Attribution should be handled carefully: recruitment and retention also depend on pay, management, role design and other factors beyond communication.
A practical example
Rather than simply claiming a culture of development, an organisation can explain a real learning opportunity, how employees access it and what participating involves. Use verified examples and obtain the appropriate permission for employee stories. This is an illustrative approach.
Before we begin.
Is employer branding only about recruitment?
No. It also concerns how current employees understand and experience the employer story. Internal communication and candidate communication should be consistent.
Can communication fix a weak employee experience?
Communication can clarify the experience and reveal gaps, but the organisation needs to address the underlying practices. The story should reflect what the business can actually deliver.
